i let someone transfer two copies of this tape: [url:vmo62szo]http://www.spfreaks.com/default.aspx?page=COLLDETAILS&item=564[/url:vmo62szo]

tracklist and details:
[url:vmo62szo]http://www.splra.org/wiki/index.php?title=Tsp1993-06-30[/url:vmo62szo]

magikarp checked out the three different transfers, picked the best one (the tape 1 transfer), and applied some light noise removal. the result can be downloaded here: [url:vmo62szo]http://www.mediafire.com/?f3972agdqspqe[/url:vmo62szo] (16 bit flac files, split into 5 tracks)

if you want to check out the different transfers (24 bit flac files, not split into separate tracks) for yourself, you can get them here: [url:vmo62szo]http://www.mediafire.com/?9ajb2twdyiibf[/url:vmo62szo]

the guy who transferred these tapes thought this about the three transfers:

I thought the tp2 sounded a bit better, probably due to a different channel balance.
But if the balance was fixed, it’s possible it’s a dead heat, or even that the other tape \"wins\".
I prefer the Tandberg transfer on one of my headphone rigs, and on the other rig it’s less clear which is better.[/quote:vmo62szo]

here’s the other tape i’ve got transferred: [url:2v5vhrea]http://www.spfreaks.com/default.aspx?page=COLLDETAILS&item=1059[/url:2v5vhrea]

it’s a press conference with billy and james. the press is from all over the world, including south america, europe and australia.
i split the whole thing into tracks, as that seemed more practical than one huge file per tape side.
it’s still being uploaded right now, but both a flac and an mp3 version should appear here: [url:2v5vhrea]http://www.mediafire.com/?oe5005nj8euw6[/url:2v5vhrea]

feel free to share this elsewhere if you want to (dunno, on zomb or lma or summin’).

side a and side b of the tape.
there’s one transfer of tape 1, and two transfers (on different decks) of tape 2. spaceboy acoustic is the second track on side a.

i don’t require credit. and i paid the guy to do the transfers, so i don’t think he needs any either.

maybe just link to the spfreaks.com entry of this cassette? this way spfreaks.com might get some extra traffic.

do you need the interview in one long track? might be easier to put on youtube. (dunno, really, i never upload things to youtube.) or can you merge the separate tracks yourself?

yeah, i did this, but had crossfades (on accident) between each track. so their answers beginning and ending were crossfaded with the interviewer asking questions. it was super lame. i did another join of the files without the crossfades and am uploading now. i don’t know if you can put links on youtube descriptions? i guess i’ll try.

spfreaks entry:

The contributor notes the press conference takes place in Hollywood, CA.[/quote:2jeb3xnv]

i don’t remember where i got that. (or did someone else contribute that fact?)
it is not unlikely to have been in hollywood as they were playing two shows there the next two days (21 and 22 october): http://www.splra.org/wiki/index.php?title=Tsp1993
the days before, they had two shows in san francisco.

so yeah, hollywood seems like a good guess, but i’m not sure. it could have been anywhere.

would anyone be able to track down more information about this press conference (full of internationals)? maybe it’s mentioned somewhere else? (put your freak hat on, spfreaks! and freak out!)

this is certainly not my forte. my guess is the interview was held somewhere in LA. hollywood is just a portion of LA, and LA is freaking huge. makes sense to refer to hollywood even though you’re not really there – it’s more of an colloquialism than a city.

i was just wondering where that claim came from, that this was in hollywood.
since i am the contributor, that must’ve come from me.

and then i found this post:

got this delabel promo tape:
[/quote:357mbynp]
appears to contain what’s on the tin: a press conference, given on 20 october 1993. i guess it happened in hollywood, from one of billy’s answers.
journalists from all over the world are present and ask questions (including journalists from finland, australia and brazil, for example).
billy does most of the talking. james says a little something here and there. not sure (yet) if d’arcy or jimmy are there. (still listening.)

i did some quick googling, but couldn’t find any references to this press conference.[/quote:357mbynp]

so, it must be somewhere in the interview…
i can’t be bothered to listen to it again right now. maybe another time.

but then that doesn’t necessarily mean they’re in hollywood? or what were you trying to explain?

anyway, if he says hollywood, and that’s all we got, then hollywood it is. funny how things like this pop up after over 20 years. up until now, it was as if this press conference had never happened.

similar: i found a zwan interview too. it’s on a cd-r (from a radio station? record company rep?). i don’t think this was out before, and i don’t see the interview listed on splra.org. i hope to share this interview soon.
