Additional Information

Tape owned by Greg Bates, founder of Coat of Eyes with Billy Corgan in 1984/85. This band went by the name Bates Motel in their early stages, and later changed their name to Coat of Eyes. After Ron Roesing and Dale Meiners became band members, the name of the band was changed to The Marked. After The Marked moved from Chicago to Florida, Greg Bates decided to leave the band, stay in Chicago, and focus on his study on High School.

We date this tape early 1985 (February for the moment) since there is a known tape of The Marked with recordings starting in March 1985. This tape is called ‘Demo Recordings Mar 85 – Jan 87’. See elsewhere on our site.

Note that the track ‘Drowning In The Flowers’ was also recorded and/or performed by The Marked, it can be found on one of their demo tapes called ‘Attic Rehearsal’ (also to be found on our site). It is unsure for the moment whether the same recording of Coat of Eyes was used on this tape of The Marked.
